The Genius dive computer allows you to manage dives in Trimix as well as Nitrox with gas switches.
Thanks to the possibility of receiving data from up to 5 high pressure probes, it allows for integrated management of the gas supply, optimising both bottom and decompression times based on the residual gas.
The Genius computer uses the ZH-L16C 16-tissue Decompression Algorithm with differentiated ascent speed based on altitude and the ability to modify the Gradient Factors to adapt the algorithm's level of conservatism to your needs. Among the various menus there is one with a bar graph, in which all the tissues are represented in half-time order, and therefore allow immediate awareness of the saturation level.
The color display is made of scratch-resistant tempered mineral glass and the 4 buttons are easily reachable even with waterproof gloves. Equipped with backlighting, it has a diagonal of 2.7 inches and protected by scratch-resistant mineral glass, it provides 3 horizontal zones to display data with the possibility of choosing, in two zones, what to show as secondary information. The resolution is QVGA 320 x 240 with 256,000 colors and 420 cd/m2 brightness.
The 3 selectable modes are: Single gas (Air or Nitrox), Multigas (Nitrox and Trimix) and Gauge - Bottom Timer and therefore make it ideal as a backup instrument in all situations.
Mares Genius supports Trimix and Nitrox dives, with oxygen between 6% and 99%, and shows all the data necessary for the dive such as the various depths (current, average and maximum), time in minutes and seconds, temperature and performs all decompression calculations. In Nitrox mode you can define up to 3 mixes, in Trimix mode even 5, in order to optimize both decompression and bottom times.
Genius is able to recalculate decompression times underwater in the event of problems relating to one or more tanks that imply the failure to use some or the need to return to a gas already used. The decompression calculation occurs in a predictive manner, that is, Genius takes into account the planned mix changes (and foreseen in the respective MODs). In the event of a missed gas change, the decompression calculation is modified to take into account the omitted gas. You can also choose to deactivate the predictive decompression calculation and have Genius always calculate according to the gas currently in use.
The gas switch is signaled when approaching the gas switch depth, which is the depth at which this gas reaches a ppO2 value predefined by the user. Through the optional high pressure probes, once the volume of the individual cylinders has been entered, it is possible to monitor not only the bar but also the actual consumption in liters for an optimization of the gas supply and therefore also of the bottom and decompression times. Once the mixture you are breathing has been selected, both the partial pressure of the O2 and the Maximum Operating Depth - MOD are shown on the display.
Genius also features a digital compass compensated for inclination with respect to the horizontal. If you find yourself having to make a dive at altitude, for depths within 3700m, the Mares Genius dive computer automatically adapts and proceeds to calculate the decompression compensated for the lower pressure on the surface.
For better customization there are audible and visual alarms that can be activated or deactivated as desired.
The Bottom Timer Mode provides all pressure data if probes are connected and, in addition to the usual standard data, also the compass, average depth and a stopwatch, both with the possibility of resetting.
On the surface, Planner Mode allows you to evaluate the no-decompression times and possible decompression of a dive and, in the case of repetitive dives, to set a surface interval of your choice before carrying out the evaluation.
The battery is rechargeable and allows up to 40 hours of diving using the large color display, backlighting and wireless connection of the probes.
