Come prendersi cura della muta

How to take care of your wetsuit

The first warning to ensure a long life for your wetsuit is to wear it carefully to avoid cuts and tears. When you put on your wetsuit, do not pull it! The internal surface does not slide on the skin and the risk is that of cutting it with your nails. Turn it inside out and put it on by pulling from the inside and if necessary use an anti-friction gel or a little oil. Do not use Vaseline , it ruins the neoprene and makes it less elastic and delicate. There are also products specifically in stick form that you can find on our site and that have the advantage of not greasing your fingers.

After use, dedicate a few minutes to your wetsuit: rinse it carefully to eliminate the salt. Salt, ultraviolet rays, and sand have the effect of drying out neoprene. Wash it turned inside out in the shower, but even better if you have the opportunity to leave it to soak for a few minutes in a tub of fresh water. Lay it out in the shade and avoid drying it in full sun. Do not hang it by the shoulders: they are the most delicate and precious part of the wetsuit and you risk that the weight could deform them.

At home, don't use talcum powder. If you've always rinsed it in the shower, soak it once in fresh water without chemicals before storing it for the winter. Roll it up instead of folding it, it won't crease and it will take up less space. Avoid hanging it. And if the wetsuit has been dry for a long time, soak it again before wearing it and then let it dry: it will be much more elastic and easier to wear.
